CMA CGM has announced the implementation of a Peak Season Surcharge (PSS) on cargo moving from Asia to Northern Europe, driven by sustained market pressures and strong seasonal demand.
The surcharge will apply to shipments loaded from major Asian origins, including China, Southeast Asia, and the Indian Subcontinent, destined for ports across Northern Europe. According to CMA CGM, the PSS is intended to offset increased operational and network costs during the peak shipping season.
Customers are advised to verify the applicable rates and effective dates, as these may vary depending on the port pair and container type, amid continued volatility in the global container market.
This development follows ongoing capacity adjustments and continued uncertainty around freight rates on key east–west trade lanes.
